Measurement Lab:
The primary aim is to familiarize students with some of the important concepts of medical Instrumentation, where there is direct connection to the body, and to explain how the requirements for the equipment are derived. The lab is used to conduct a wide range of experiments in medical Instrumentation, such as measurement of bio potentials (such as ECG, EEG, EMG), temperature measurements, blood pressure measurements, heart and respiratory rate measurements, skin resistance and spirometry. ![]() ![]() Electric Circuits Lab: The primary aim is to help students understand the properties of basic electric circuit components, learn the basic laws of distribution of currents and voltages in electric circuits, and to analyze electric circuits under the steady state and transient conditions. The students are also expected to thoroughly familiarize themselves with multi-meters, power supplies, function generators and oscilloscopes. ![]() Medical Equipment Lab: The primary aim is to provide the information and concepts necessary to develop a firm understanding of human bio signal, monitoring, surgical and imaging equipment. Emphasis is placed on the theory of operation and calibration procedures. The student will also become familiar with the usage of various pieces of test equipment associated with medical equipment. List of equipment covered: X-ray Ultrasound ECG / EEG Bed-Side Monitor E.S.U Defibrillator G.M. Counter Safety Lab: The safety program provides a range of instructional and resource materials to help students know how to incorporate the fundamental good rules of safety into their daily work routine. Its goals are to: Create and maintain a safe and healthy medical environment. Teach safe work practices. Promote safety awareness. Ensure a laboratory safety program that complements medical science. Provides the fundamentals for safety in a health care facility. Emphasis is placed upon the safety of the operator and patient. The student will be introduced to concepts of electrical safety in medical instrumentation. Electronics Lab: The primary aim is to help students understand the properties of basic electronic components such as transistors, diodes, logic gates etc., the students are also expected to draw the characteristics of transistors and diodes and to use the function generators and oscilloscopes. Trouble-shooting Lab Intended to provide the information and concepts necessary to develop a firm understanding of trouble-shooting of Biomedical Equipment. Emphasis is placed on the theory of operation, calibration procedures, and troubleshooting techniques. The student will learn how to use various pieces of test equipment, including Digital Multimeters and Oscilloscope. The Lab consists of following 6 modules: Biomedical Signal Amplifier Biomedical Signal Graphic Recorder CRT Transducers Optical coupling Stimulators Electrical & Mechanical Workshop This workshop is intended to impart the skills of running different types of hand tools and power tools. The students are familiarized with different types of electrical and electronic components and making circuits by using these components. The students will develop the use of these tolls in maintaining medical equipments. This workshop has the following facilities: Mechanical Hand tools set Electrical hand tool set Drilling machines Lathe Power Saw Welding Machine Printed Circuit Board making machine Etching Tank Soldering Station Mechanical Biomedical Equipment Lab: This lab is intended to provide the information and concepts necessary to develop a firm understanding of mechanical medical equipment. The student will become familiar with mechanical equipment, mechanical circuits and components.
